Will Blonde Hair Suit Me?

There's a blonde hair colour to suit most skin tones.  This quick guide might help you decide what will suit you best:

Light Skin Tones – golden, strawberry or light blonde colours will work well. 
Medium Skin Tones – choose honey or golden blonde. Beige blonde or light blondes with warm tones would also look good.
Dark Skin Tones – warmer, darker blondes will work best such as caramels and golden blondes.

How Much Do Your Hair Services Cost?

The cost of your service will depend on a range of factors, including your hair’s current colour, condition and length.  The blonding technique you choose and degree of blondness you want to achieve will also be a factor.  We have a range of colour technicians available, all of whom are fully trained, but prices will also vary with their experience.  We recommend booking a consultation and we will then be able to give you a no-obligation quote once we have assessed your hair.  Check our price list for all our hair colour pricing options.

Can Brunettes Go Blonde?

Yes, certainly, but it's worth bearing in mind that a major hair colour transformation will be a journey and may not happen in one session.  It can take time and effort to achieve and maintain your new look. Book a consultation and we will explain the process, time, the colour that will be achieved and give you a quote. 

If you have brunette hair and want to add some blonde, one easy option to consider is face-framing or money piece highlights.

Will Going Blonde Damage My Hair? 

It's always important to choose a professional colour technician if you want to ensure the condition of your hair is maintained in the colouring process.  At west with style we use the very best quality products from Wella to ensure your hair is protected during the hair colouring process.

Speak to your colourist about Wellaplex, which we recommend using during the colouring process.  This strengthening treatment will add just 10 minutes to your hair colour service, but will make a major difference to your hair.  It strengthens and stabilises your hair's internal bonds, rebalancing the pH and strengthening it during the colouring process.

How Do I Maintain My Blonde Hair?

The level of maintenance required will depend on your starting colour and also the blonding technique you choose.

With an all-over blonde hair colour, you can expect to visit the salon every eight weeks or so to touch up your root re-growth.  

With highlights, regrowth is less obvious, and you can have a T-section cover-up every eight weeks or so.  Balayage is a lower maintenance look, with naturally darker roots, so you may not need to have your colour reapplied for longer. 

 To give your colour a boost between full colour appointments, we recommend using a toners or colour glaze on your hair.

Bear in mind that blonde hair tends to be delicate, easily losing its shine or become discoloured.  Environmental pollution, UV light from the sun can effect it as well as sea salt and chlorine.  Speak to your stylist to find the right products to preserve your hair's colour and vibrancy.   In salon treatments can help maintain your hair's condition and vitality.  We also recommend a hair care range specifically designed for blonde hair, such as new System Professional LuxeBlond.

Should I Use A Blue Shampoo?

A blue or purple shampoo will help you enhance the beauty of your blonde hair and avoid unwanted brassy tones.  It will also help you get the best from of grey, white or silver hair.

We recommend the new System Professional LuxeBlond range.  This gently cleanses and clarifies your blonde hair, removing pollution while neutralising yellow tones.  It won't turn your hair blue, but rather it will leave it looking cool and fresh whilst enhancing the condition. 

How Do I Remove Brassy Tones From My Blonde Hair?

We can use a toner to neutralise unwanted warm or brassy tones from blonde hair.  It works in the same way as a purple or blue-toned shampoo, to tone down the brass, whilst adding gloss to your hair.
